Going into the bottom of the 9th Oconomowoc was faced with a 10-3 defecit and things were not looking good with just a runner on first and two outs. But Oconomowoc nearly staged what would have been one of the biggest comebacks ever when six straight batters reached and brought Jeff Rhoads to the plate who represented the winning run. Rhoads who had already homered twice in the game, flew out to the warning track to end the one-in-a-million comeback. Slinger struck first in the game with a run in the 2nd and three in the third to take a 4-0 lead before Rhoads hit his first home run of the game in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 4-1. Slinger added two more in the 5th and four more in the 6th to make it 10-1 before Rhoads' second home run in the bottom of the 7th made it 10-3. Things stayed that way until the bottom of the 9th when the Five O's were able to push across five but fell to Slinger 10-8.
On the mound, Zach Dahms made his Five O's debut going six innings allowing 10 runs (five earned) on 10 hits while walking seven, striking out four and hitting two batters. Jeff Rhoads threw the final three innings allowing no runs on three hits while walking none and striking out one. At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Shawn Tremaine who was 3 for 4 and Jeff Rhoads who was 3 for 6 with two home runs.
The loss puts Oconomowc at 2-6 in the Tri County Night League. The return to LOL action with a game against the Brookfield Bulldogs on Saturday at 2:00 pm in Brookfiend and then a 1:00 pm start in Merton on Sunday.
