Matt Schref threw a dandy on Sunday going all nine innings and blanking the Hartland Oilers in LOL play. Schref allowed six hits and struck out four batters in the win allowing two walks. Oconomowoc took the lead in the top of the 3rd when Luke Nelson hit his third home run of the season putting the score at 1-0. Later in the inning Mike Mitchell and Josh Bouche both walked when Josh Fenzl followed with an RBI single. An error by the first basement put the score at 3-0 after three innings. Things stayed that way until the top of the 8th when Oconomowoc added another run on back to back singles by Bob Bolson and Jeff Rhoads. Oconomowoc added four more insurance runs in the top of the 9th on three walks, two hits, a hit batter and an error to put the final score at 8-0.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Luke Nelson who was 2 for 4 with a home run, RBI and two walks. Josh Fenzl was 2 for 3 with a sac, RBI and hit by pitch.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 2-1 in the LOL West and 3-2 overall. They travel to Watertown on Friday for a TCNL match up before taking on the Brookfield Bulldogs (3-0) in a huge LOL matchup on Sunday in Brookfield.
