Oconomowoc won their third straight LOL game on Sunday with a 12-7 victory over North Lake. Oconomowoc jumped on the board early with three runs in the top of the first when Andy Bauer and Luke Nelson led off with singles and Jeff Rhoads then doubled them in. Rhoads moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sac fly by Derek Nelson to put Oconomowoc up 3-0. North Lake brought the score to 3-2 with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd off starter Justin Mortensen. Oconomowoc slowly expanded their lead with two runs in the 3rd on four hits, three runs in the 4th on three hits including a two-run home run by Mike Mitchell and two runs in the 6th on a two-run home run by Josh Bouche. When asked if this was his first home run, Bouche answered with an undecipherable "Ughhh, huhhhh, muggggg". With the score 10-2 North Lake would not give up and was able to get five runs in the bottom of the 7th off reliever Chris Fisher. Oconomowoc added two more runs in the top of the 8th before Andy Bauer came in the throw the final two scoreless innings.
On the mound, Justin Mortensen earned his first victory of the year going six innings allowing two runs on five hits while walking four and striking out four. Chris Fischer threw one inning allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out one. Andy Bauer threw the final two innings allowing no runs on three hits while talking one and striking out two.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Jeff Rhoads who was 4 for 5 with four runs scored, two doubles and three RBIs. Mike Mitchell and Josh Bouche each had home runs in the win.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 5-3 in the LOL West and 8-5 overall. They have a double header weekend next week hosting Pewaukee (5-2) on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Roosevelt and traveling to Merton (1-7) on Sunday to take on the Amvets at 1:00 pm.
