There is an old Land O Lakes baseball saying "It's hard to beat a team three times in a season" however the Pewaukee Muskies had no problem doing it to Oconomowoc as they beat them on Sunday for the third time. The final was 13-4 which was the same as their first LOL matchup of the year on June 18. Oconomowoc was able to strike first with a run in the top of the 1st inning after a single by Luke Nelson, ground rule double by Jeff Rhoads and back-to-back walks to Derek Nelson and Mike Mitchell. However Pewaukee got two in the bottom of the 1st to put the score at 2-1. They added another one in the bottom of the 2nd to make it 3-1. Oconomowoc was able to tie the game at 3-3 with a run in the top of the 4th and top of the 5th however Pewaukee then added three more runs in the bottom of the 5th to make it 6-3. After chasing starter Matt Schref the Muskies jumped on reliever Andrew Bauer for seven runs in the next two innings to put the game out of reach. Mike Mitchell added a solo home run in the top of the 8th but the damage had already been done and Oconomowoc fell 13-4. Matt Schref took the loss going five innings allowing six runs on seven hits while walking four and striking out seven. Andrew Bauer threw 1 and 1/3 innings allowing seven runs on nine hits while walking one. Justin Mortensen threw the final 1 and 2/3 allowing no runs on no hits while striking out three. At the plate Luke Nelson went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and a hit by pitch.
The loss puts Oconomowoc at 5-5 in the LOL West and 8-8 overall. They travel to Horicon on Tuesday for Tri County action and then attempt to make up their SWABA rainout on Wednesday before returning to LOL play this weekend for home games against the Brookfield Blue Sox (5-6) on Sunday at 1:00 pm and Monches Irish (7-5) on Monday at 1:00 pm.
