The Oconomowoc Five O's took on Kewaskum in the SWABA class "A" semi-finals in Johnson Creek and handed the A's a 10-6 loss to advance to the championship game (Kewaskum is currently in first place in the Rock River Northern Divison with a 10-2 record). It was a scoreless game until Kewaskum put two runs on the board in the bottom of the 4th with a double by Dan Shea. Oconomowoc jumped back and scored five runs in the top of the 5th to make the score 5-2. The first four batters in the inning reached without getting a hit. The big blows then came from an RBI double by Jeff Rhoads and two RBI single by Derek Nelson. Kewaskum scored one in the bottom of the 5th to make it 5-3 but then Oconomowoc exploded for another five runs in the top of the 6th to make the score 10-3. The inning started with a double by Shawn Tremaine and after singles by Chandler Ziemann and Luke Nelson, Jeff Rhoads hit a 3-run home run to left. The A's scored two in the bottom of the 6th and one more in the 7th to make the final 10-6.
Shawn Tremaine picked up the win for Oconomowoc going 5+ innings allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits while walking 2, striking out 2 and hitting a batter. Jeff Rhoads threw the final 2 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits while walking 1 and striking out 1.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Derek Nelson who was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Chandler Ziemann was 2 for 3 and Jeff Rhoads was 2 for 4 with a double, home run and 4 RBIs.
This is the 4th time Oconomowoc has made the SWABA finals in the past 9 nine years (won it in 2003, 2006 and 2008). The O's will take on the winner of the Lannon / Muskego game. Game date has yet to be determined. In similar news, The Oconomowoc Titans have advanced to the SWABA class "B" finals and will take on Monches.
