Oh boy. The Five O's took one on the chin this Sunday. Led by a 5 for 5 day from Dean Haase including 2 home runs (one a grand slam) and 8 RBIs and 4 for 4 day from Bryan Metzger, Lannon scored 19 runs on 19 hits. Oconomowoc scored their first run in the top of the second when Josh Bouche led off with a single and scored on a double by Griff Bell two batters later. Their second run came in the top of the 5th when Steve Rhoads led off with a single and came around to score after a single by Griff Bell and back-to-back fielders choices by Tony Briggs and Steve Rhoads.
Tony Briggs took his first loss of the year for Oconomowoc. At the plate Griff Bell was 2 for 2 with a double and RBI.
The loss puts Oconomowoc at 10-5 in the LOL West, currently in 4th place. With three games to go in the regular season they need to pick up their play to insure a playoff birth. The Brookfield Bulldogs sit in first place with a 13-2 record. The take on the Bulldogs this Friday in the SWABA Championship game in Juneau at 8:30 pm. They then get back to LOL action with a game at Pewaukee on Saturday at 2:00 pm and at Brookfield (Blue Sox) on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
