After a tough loss to Lannon on Saturday, Oconomowoc was able to bounce back on Sunday and notch a 5-2 win over the Brookfield Blue Sox. Chris Fischer gave The Five O's seven solid innings on the hill and picked up his first win of the season. Brookfield's starter Johnny Arnold did give Oconomowoc problems, holding them scoreless through five innings only allowing one hit. The Blue Sox jumped on the board first with two runs in the top of the 3rd on a walk, two singles and an error. Oconomowoc was finally able to get to Arnold in the bottom of the 6th when Brett Marshall led off the inning with a walk and later moved to third on a single by Luke Nelson. Jeff Rhoads then doubled to left center tieing the game at 2-2 and Derek Nelson promptly singled to right putting Oconomowoc up 3-2. The Five O's added two more insurance runs in the 8th making it 5-2. In the 9th inning relief pitcher Luke Nelson was struggling mightily before manager and fellow pitcher Jeff Rhoads was able to calm the you fireballer down and seal the win for Oconomowoc.
On the mound, Chris Fischer earned the win going seven solid innings allowing two runs on three hits while walking two and striking out four. Luke Nelson picked up the save going two innings allowing no runs on no hits while walking two and striking out three. At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Luke Nelson, Jeff Rhoads and Derek Nelson who each had two hits.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 4-2 in the LOL West. They are in a four way tie for second place, a half game behind front running Pewaukee. They travel to Watertown on Friday to take on the Clyman Canners in Tri County action before returning to LOL play on Sunday with a 1:00 pm game at Merton.
