Despite committing four errors and being outhit, Oconomowoc was able to pick up a 10-7 win to put them alone in first place in the LOL West. Monches jumped on Oconomowoc with three runs in the top of the first on three hits and two Oconomowoc errors. Oconomowoc regained the lead with five runs in the bottom of the second. The key hit of the inning was a bases loaded double by Bob Bolson which scored two runs. Monches regained the lead with three runs in the top of the 4th to make the score 6-5. In the bottom half of the inning Jeff Rhoads blasted a two run home run to put the Five O's back on top 7-6. Matt Huffaker earned a run for Oconomowoc in the bottom of the 5th by reaching on an error, stealing third and scoring on a past ball. The final two runs for Oconomowoc came in the bottom of the 7th when Andrew Bauer blasted his first home run as a Five O. Monches scored one run in the top of the 9th off Matt Schref who came in to relieve starter Chris Fischer in the 7th.
On the mound Chris Fischer earned the win for Oconomowoc going six innings allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits while walking two and striking out four. Matt Schref picked up the save going three innings allowing one run on four hits while walking one and striking out three. At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Matt Huffaker who was 3 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and a walk. Jeff Rhoads and Andrew Bauer each had a home run.
The win puts Oconomowoc alone in first place with a 10-3 record in the LOL West with the Brookfield Blue Sox a half game back. The have an upcoming double header weekend with a trip to West Bend on Saturday and then to Menomonee Falls on Sunday.
