O's lose 7-3 to Hartland to end season.
The Oconomowoc Five O's season ended on Saturday when the Hartland Oilers defeated them 7-3. Behind pitcher Craig Henshel, the Oilers got hits at key times while the O's left numerous runners on base throughout the game. Rob Becker took the loss for the O's while Jeff Rhoads had 3 hits in the loosing effort. The O's are now off until March of 2002 when they look to go for another grand championship. When asked to comment on the 2001 season Mike Eppler quoted, "Now my talents are being shifted twords the MLB playoffs. I have had to change my number 5 times to get Steinbrenner off my ass and stop calling. He didn't want to hear that I had pitchers up here to punish before I can come give him and 30 of his boys another ring."

Five O's take Falls in first round of playoffs.
In a close game on Sunday, the Oconomowoc Five O's beat Menomonee Falls 6-5 to advance to the next round of the LOL playoffs. Their next game is scheduled for Saturday against Hartland who beat Pewaukee on Sunday. The winner of that game will square up against Lannon for a best of three series starting on Sunday. Rob Becker threw another excellent game for the O's, going the distance and earning the win. And put a lot of fans' minds at ease when he got back on track by dotting a batter. "When he hadn't hit anyone for 14+ innings, I started getting concerned," quoted an uneasy Canman. This reporter obviously upset Mike Eppler when he asked him on his take on Hartland. "If I have told you once, I have told you a thousand times, Hartland can't hold me. Hell, Yellowstone can't hold me. Now quit wasting my time with these questions and ask me a real one, like how badly I am going to use Henshel on Saturday. Now thats a question."

O's end regular season with hot bats.
The final game of the regular season ended with a bang for the Five O's. In a game in which the outcome turned out to not be important, "It is still nice to go into the playoffs with a win" said O's skipper Erik Olson. Since Lannon beat Monsches in extra innings on Saturday, the game was just a warm up for the real deal on Sunday for both teams. The O's jumped on the boards early and never looked back. Mike Bolson earned the win for the O's. The O's will take on Falls again tomorrow for the game that counts, the first round of the Land O Lakes playoffs. When asked to comment on the upcoming playoff stretch Mike Eppler quoted, "I am looking past these teams to Lannon. I think I have made it quite clear how badly I consistantly work them. Duffuk should be having nightmares knowing what is in store for him and the boys."

Playoff teams set. Final week to determine standings.
The Land O Lakes Western Division playoff teams have been set. The order is still undecided. Lannon and Oconomowoc are the only two teams that have a chance at the top seed. Currently the two teams are tied, with Lannon holding the tie breaker. The only way for the O's to take the top spot is for Lannon to lose on Saturday against Monches and Oconomowoc to beat Falls. The playoffs begin on Sunday with the 2 seed playing the 5 seed and the 3 seed playing the 4 seed. When reached for comment about the "down to the wire" finish for this season and his outlook on the playoffs O's outfielder Mike Eppler stated "Lannon, Falls, blah blah blah. I could care less if we were playing the Yankees, everyone knows not to throw me inside so it is just a question of who is foolish enough to try their luck with it." Following that he added, "Don August thinks he was in the bigs? Put me on the hill and the boys from Menomonee Falls will get a quick 6 am wake up call from their dreamland."

O's shutout Sussex
Rob Becker threw 8 innings and Luke Nelson closed out the shutout for the O's against Sussex on Sunday. The O's defeated them 8-0 with Becker and Luke combining for a 4-hitter. Sean Smith went 4 for 5 to lead the O's in hitting. Also contributing were Dusty Rhoads who was 3 for 4 and Luke Nelson who was 2 for 5 including a lead off home run. After the past week of baseball some serious questions have come to mind, none of which I can answer... 1) How did Rob Becker pitch 8 innings and not bean anyone? 2) How did Stu hit a home run, and 3) How in GOD'S NAME did Derek Nelson hit a triple?!?!?!?!

Final Tri County Nite League game ends in loss
With a depleated roster, the Oconomowoc Five O's were run ruled by Juneau on Tuesday night for their last Tri County game of the season. The O's were run ruled by the score of 16-6. Dusty Rhoads, despite 11 strikeouts, got the loss.

Packed weekend for the O's
The Oconomowoc Five O's squeezed five games in the four day weekend. It started Thursday with Oconomowoc playing the Janesville Aces in the beginning of the NBC tournament. The O's came from behind to take a thrilling 6-4 win over the Aces to advance to the next round which was Saturday. On Friday the O's played the next round of the SWABA tournament. In this game the O's took Madison 13-8 in Hustisford which advances them to the semi-final round which will be held the middle of this week. Then on Saturday, the O's finished up the NBC tournament with a double header. After a rain delay in the first game the O's managed to squeek by the Milwaukee Lefts to advance to the championship game of NBC. Later that night Oconomowoc lost a close game to Sparta, thus taking second place in the NBC tournament. This marks the first time Oconomowoc has made it to the championship game for the NBC tournament. The weekend ended with a dry performance by the O's against Lannon. In what was a game for first place, Lannon jumped early to get 2 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Lack of hitting and errors by the Five O's sealed their fate. "I own Lannon," quoted O's outfielder Mike Eppler after the game. "Kozlowski and the boys should just be lucky that it wasn't closer near the end so I would have to come in and wreck shop," was his response after being asked what he thought of the game. Now the O's are in second place in the LOL, and unless Lannon loses in the next two weeks, will finish their. If this were to happen, the O's would play the fifth place team in the LOL (currently Menomonee Falls) in the first round of the playoffs.

O's take Clyman at Watertown
The Oconomowoc Five O's defeated Clyman in Watertown on Monday night. Derek Nelson had a home run for the O's while J.J. Mohns got the win pitching. The O's are now 7 - 2 in the Tri County Nite League.

Neary has mammoth day to help O's run rule Hartland
Andy Neary helped the Five O's keep their tie with first place after going 4 for 4 with 8 RBIs, including 2 home runs, on Sunday. Andy's power is in line with the rest of the O's this year who have out homered their opponents 25 - 9. The O's sport a slugging percentage near 200 points better than their opponents. Other standouts on Sunday were Mike Bolson and Dusty Rhoads, each with 2 hits. Rob Becker got the win (12th LOL win in a row for the O's) by throwing another gem for the O's. Lannon kept the race for first place tight by earning a win over Sussex. The O's will showdown against Lannon on Sunday in a game which will most likely amount to the winner getting a bye to the final round of the playoffs.

O's beat Brookfield, Lannon loses. Tie for First Place
The Oconomowoc Five O's beat Brookfield on Sunday 13-8. Elsewhere in the LOL, Lannon lost to Pewaukee to put Oconomowoc in a tie for first place with Lannon.

Five O's suffer another tough Nite League loss
The Five O's lost for the second time this year in the Tri County Nite League. Both losses came in extra inning defeats. On Saturday the O's played at Rubicon, and after giving up 10 runs in the first two innings, came back strong. Mike Bolson started the game pitching for the O's before being relieved by Derek Nelson and Luke Nelson. After the first two rough innings the O's managed to only give up one more run until the 10 inning when Rubicon took the win. All the runs for the O's came on home runs. There were two grand slams, one by Jeff Ranta and one by Luke Nelson. Luke also had a solo shot along with Steve Rhoads and Mike Bolson. The O's are now 5-2 in the Nite League.

Merton suffers pounding by Five O's
Merton was handed a shutout as the Five O's run ruled them 14-0 on the July 4th holiday. The shut out was thrown by JJ Mohns and Luke Nelson. On the hitting side, the Five O's exploded for three home runs, two by Jeff Rhoads. The other came from Pete Schlosser with the legendary Treverlious bat.

Another great year for the golf outing
The Five O's and Parents for Baseball would like to thank everyone for another excellent golf outing this year. It was a great success and everyone involved had an excellent time.

Five O's take Sussex 10-5 at home

Comfortable win over Falls puts Five O's at 9-2 in LOL
On Saturday, the Five O's handed Menomonee Falls a tough 12-0 loss. Rob Becker was the winning pitcher, throwing the first 9 inning shut out for the O's this year. After a four run first inning, the O's never looked back. In the end, they ended up with 19 hits. Jeff Rhoads was 5 for 5 with Sean Smith and Peter Schlosser each contributing three hits a piece. Sean hit the first wood bat home run this year with a towering shot to right. Jeff Rhoads had three RBIs with Derek Nelson and Andy Neary each having two. The O's are still in second place with a 9-2 record. Lannon is still the team to beat in the LOL West.
