The Five Os completed the regular season with a hard fought 9-5 win
over a gutsy Pewaukee Muskies team. With the support of three run home
runs by Pete Schlosser and Sean Smith, Kirk Ressler struggled early to
gain his seventh win in the LOL. Trailing 5-3 in the top of the fifth,
Tim Schlosser singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a
single by Jeff Rhoads. Derek Nelson walked setting the stage for the
three run blast deep in the trees over the right field fence by Smith
for a 7-5 lead. Oconomowoc scored their first three runs in the third
as Mike Eppler and T Schlosser singled prior to the three run high fly
home run by P Schlosser down the left field line. Ressler was in
trouble early and often, giving up five runs, three earned, on six hits
and six walks in the first four innings before finding his grove to
give up only only one it in the next three innings. The Muskies, who scored
three unearned runs after two outs, plated a run in the second inning
on a signle by Brian Thor, error, balk and wild pitch. In the third, Tom
Zimmerman and Jamie Bloedow singled . Zimmerman scored on a single by
Steve Brothers and Bloedow scored on a single by JJ Watt to tie the
game at 3-3. In the fourth inning Zimmernan, Todd Bloedow and J Bloedow
walked to load the bases. Zimmerman scored on an error and T Bloedow
on a wild pitch for their final lead at 5-3. The Five Os scored a run in
the sixth as T Schlosser tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by P
Schlosser and the final run in the ninth inning on walks to Smith,
Steve
Rhoads, Kevin Raasch and Bob Bolson.
Ressler gave up five runs, three earned, on seven hits, six walks and
five strike outs in seven innings. D Nelson had five strike outs in
two innings in relief. Muskies starter, Dale Szachewicz gave up eight runs
on 11 hits, three walks and a stirke out in six innings. JJ Watt gave
up one run on five walks and three strike outs in three innings of
relief.
Brian Thor had two hits for Pewaukee. T Schlosser had three hits and
scored three for the Five Os. Jeff Rhoads had two hits.
The Five Os play at home on Sat 8/20 at 1 PM in the LOL Western Div
Playoffs.
