Nelson Throws No Hitter To Lead Five Os

Luke Nelson accomplished the ultimate feat for a pitcher, a no hitter. Nelson led Oconomowoc to a 6-0 win over Monches with 17 strikeouts and was just a walk and hit batter away from a perfect game. The no hitter was the first of Nelson's baseball career. "I have had a lot of one hitters, but never a no hitter. It is especially an impressive feat considering the questionable defense I had in the outfield, especially in right field. Not only do I have to not allow anyone to get a hit, I have to keep everyone from hitting out to right... anything in that direction is either going to be a hit or error," Nelson stated. Mike Mitchell could not be reached for comment. Taking the loss for Monches was Cory Millikin who went the distance. At the plate, Oconomowoc was led by Pete Schlosser and Josh Fenzl, who were each 3 for 4. Fenzl had 1 double while Pete belted out 2. Tim Schlosser and Jeff Rhoads has 2 hit apiece. The win puts Oconomowoc at 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the LOL West. They are currently in a 3 way tie for first place in the division.
Oconomowoc has a Tri County matchup on Wednesday against Juneau before embarking on a huge LOL double header weekend. They play Hartland on Saturday who they are currently tied with for first place and then Lannon on Sunday. Five Os outfielder Mike Eppler had this to say when asked about the upcoming weekend. "I have kept my mouth shut during the season up to this point, but lets just set things straight. It isn't very often that I get to embarrass two pitchers in one weekend, but Paul [Vanden Huevel] was nice enough to set up the schedule in a way that will allow me to humiliate Henschel and Koz within a 24 hour period. The hit parade will be marching through Hartland and Lannon this weekend... and I am the Grand Marshall." Both games are away. Game time on Saturday is 2:00 pm and Sunday is 1:00 pm.
