Following Chris Fischer'sstellar performance in the opening round of SWABA, Justin Mortensen turned in an equally impressive outing on Friday night throwing a two-hit complete game shutout to lead Oconomowoc to a 10-0 win over Kewaskum in the second round of SWABA. In the 7 inning contenst Mortensen struck out nine batters and walked four never allowing a Kewaskum batter past second base. Oconomowoc jumped on the board early when Jeff Rhoads led off the top of the 1st with a double and later scored on a single by Mike Bolson. They took a 3-0 lead in the top of the 3rd when Rhoads and Luke Nelson led off the inning with a single and double and later scored on a ground out and wild pitch. Jeff Rhoads smashed a two run home run as part of the three run 4th inning to extend the lead to 6-0. In the top of the 6th the Five O's added four more insurance runs to put the final score at 10-0.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Jeff Rhoads and Mike Bolson who each had three hits. Luke Nelson and Matt Huffaker each had two hits in the win.
With the win Oconomowoc advances to the final four in the SWABA tournament and will next take on the West Bend 7-Up. Date and location to be determined.
