After co-writing a string of hit singles, Earl's relationship with the group fizzled. A fist fight with Ringo Starr finally led to his dismissal. After a failed attempt at a solo career, Earl returned home to the states.
Disillusioned with the music industry, Earl turned to politics. He used his childhood love of sports as an inspiration.
After successfully lobbying Congress to make baseball 'America's favorite pastime', Earl was named 'Honorary Secretary of Athletics' by President Richard Nixon.
