Oconomowoc broke their two game losing streak by defeating West Bend 11-1 on Sunday. West Bend was the last undefeated team remaining in the LOL West. West Bend shot out of the gates and got on the board early scoring a run in the top of the first by taking advantage of a walk and hit batter followed by an RBI single by Matt Parrent. However starter Justin Mortensen settled in a that would be the only run the O's would allow the entire game. Oconomowoc went quietly in the first two frames before taking the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third. It was first and third with no one out after back-to-back bits from Chandler Ziemann and Luke Nelson. A double play brought in the first run and then two doubles by Derek Nelson and Andrew Bauer brought in the second run. The Five O's then dropped five more runs on West Bend in the bottom of the fourth when six of the first seven batters reached. A bases loaded single by Jeff Rhoads and a double by Josh Bouche were responsible for the runs. Oconomowoc added one in the fifth and three more in the seventh to end the game at 11-1. Justin Mortensen threw 8 solid innings allowing one run on five hits while walking one, striking out three and hitting one batter. Andrew Bauer threw the final inning allowing no runs on one hit. Chandler Ziemann led the offensive attack going 4 for 5 with a double, home run and three RBIs. Luke Nelson and Jeff Rhoads had three hits each.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 3-2 in the LOL West and 7-3 overall. They travel to Watertown Monday night for a game against Clyman/Watertown before returning to LOL action on Sunday at North Lake in a battle for the rock.
