A 4-run 7th inning gave Pewaukee all it needed to hand Oconomowoc its first Tri County loss of the season on Friday night. The Five O's debuted three new players in the game: Tanner Wensman in center, Willy Schlosser in right and Cale Ross on the mound. Wensman and Schlosser both picked up hits in their first game while Ross struck out six in six innings of work. Pewaukee jumped on the board early with a run in the top of the 1st of Ross. Oconomowoc took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd when four straight batters reached with two outs making the score 2-1. Pewaukee tied it up in the top of the 3rd before taking a 3-run lead with three runs in the 4th making it 5-2. Oconomowoc scored a run in each of the next three innings but the nail in the coffin was Pewaukee's big 7th inning. Cale Ross took the loss for Oconomowoc in his Five O's debut going six innings allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits while walking four, striking out six and hitting three batters. Josh Bouche threw one inning of work giving up four runs on two hits while walking three and hitting one. Jeff Rhoads threw the final two innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits and also ended Pewaukee heartthrob Kurt Sarcia's one and a half year strikeout-less streak with an epic 10-pitch at-bat, culminating with a filthy slider catching the inside corner of the plate. After the game Sarcia had this to say about his historic streak coming to an end, "It was a good run. Am I disappointed? Sure. I would be lying if I said I wasn't. But there is some relief in knowing that it was ended by the best in the business. So I can go home and sleep well knowing that."
The loss puts Oconomowoc at 1-1 in the Tri County Night League and 2-2 overall. They travel to Hartland on Sunday for a 1:00 pm LOL matchup and then return to TCNL action next Friday with a game against Watertown at 7:30 pm.
