With Oconomowoc down one run in the bottom of the 9th, Brett Marshall led off the inning by reaching on an error and then Jeff Rhoads lifted the next pitch over the center field fench to give Oconomowoc an 8-7 win over Rubicon Tuesday night in Tri County play. Oconomowoc jumped on Rubicon early with a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first before an out was even recorded. Rubicon scored two in the top of the 2nd but Oconomowoc added two more runs in the bottom half on a Matt Huffaker home run to make the score 6-2 and chased Rubicon's starter from the game. The Five O's bats then cooled off and Rubicon eventually took a 7-6 lead with five runs in the top of the 5th. The score stayed that way until the walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Chandler Ziemann who was 4 for 5 with two runs scored. Matt Huffaker, Bob Bolson, Jeff Rhoads and Josh Bouche each had two hits.
On the mound Shawn Tremaine threw the first five innings for Oconomowoc allowing seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits while walking two striking out three and hitting one batter. Steve Rhoads picked up the win going the last four innings allowing no runs on two hits while walking two and striking out one.
The win marks the half way point for the Tri County season and puts Oconomowoc at 3-2 (7-5 overall). They begin the SWABA tournament this Friday with a game against Stoughton in Johnson Creek before returning to LOL action on Sunday with a game at North Lake (0-7) at 1:00 pm.
