It was over before it started on Sunday in what would turn into a 13-0, 7-inning run rule from the Brookfield Blue Sox over the Five O's. Brookfield slaughtered Oconomowoc starter Justin Mortenson with three runs in the top of the 1st and five more before the 2nd inning was even over. With two outs in the inning and 8 runs on the board, veteran Rob Becker relieved Mortenson to try and put the flames out. It had been 1,057 days since Becker last threw for the Five O's and he managed well. Becker said after the game, "I typically do well on 1,057 days rest. I felt good... real good." Becker threw the remaining 5 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits while walking 3 and striking out 4.
Mortenson took the loss going 1 2/3 innings allowing 8 runs (7 earned) on 8 hits and 2 walks. At the plate for Oconomowoc Derek Nelson led the squad going 1 for 2 with a double.
Oconomowoc will host Monches on Monday, July 4th in a rematch of the season opener where Monches defeated the Five O's 5-2.
