Things were not looking so good for the bruised and battered Five O's midway through the game Wednesday night in Tri County play. They only had nine players and going into the top of the 8th inning they were getting no-hit by Kewaskum and losing 9-0. Oconomowoc managed to mount a respectable rally and scored three in the 8th and two in the 9th to make the final score 9-5. Kewaskum jumped on Oconomowoc early by scoring two runs in the 1st and two more in the 3rd off starter Cale Ross to make it 4-0. They added four more runs in the 4th and one more in the 5th to extend their lead to 9-0. Kewaskum was retiring Oconomowoc batters with little effort and if it were not for a walk in the 3rd inning to Jeff Rhoads, they would have had a perfect game going into the 8th. Oconomowoc finally broke through when Josh Bouche led off the 8th with a single. Two batters later Willy Schlosser singled to right and then Bob Bolson hit a sac fly to score Bouche. Jeff Rhoads then came up and hit a 2-run home run to make the score 9-3. In the top of the 9th Chandler Ziemann led off with a walk which was followed by a double from Derek Nelson. A single by Bouche two batters later scored one run and a fielders choice by Chris Fischer scored Oconomowoc's last run making the final 9-5. Cale Ross took the loss for Oconomowoc going 3 innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2. Chris Fischer threw 1 inning allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits. Derek Nelson threw 2 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 1 hit while walking 1 and striking out 1. Steve Rhoads threw the final 2 innings allowing no runs on 2 hits. At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Josh Bouche who was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Jeff Rhoads was 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 RBIs and a walk.
The loss puts Oconomowoc at 3-5 in the Tri County Night League. They have a LOL double header traveling to Brookfield on Saturday to take on the Blue Sox at 2:00 pm and then returning home on Sunday to take on Lannon at 1:00 pm.
