It was a very sloppy game for Oconomowoc on Sunday when they took on the Brookfield Bulldogs in LOL action. The Bulldogs got a complete game from starter Greg Basthemer and played solid defense to earn the victory. Oconomowoc was able to jump on the board in the top of the 1st when Luke Nelson doubled to right field with one out and moved to third on a ground out. With two outs Mike Mitchell lined a single down the left field line scoring Nelson and putting Oconomowoc up 1-0. Oconomowoc gave that run back plus another one in the bottom of the 1st with a leadoff walk, wild pitch and two errors. After one inning of play, Oconomowoc was down 2-1. Brookfield stretched their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the 4th on a saf fly from K.C. Pinsoneault. Oconomowoc managed to tie the game in the top of the 5th when Mike Bolson reached on an error and was brought home with a 2-run home run from Jeff Rhoads making the score 3-3. More sloppy play in the bottom of the 5th from Oconomowoc led to another Brookfield run making the score 4-3. The Bulldogs were able to chase starter Cale Ross from the game who was relieved by Justin Mortenson. Brookfield got four runs off Mortenson in the bottom of the 6th making the score 8-3 and then another run off Chris Fischer in the 7th making it 9-3. Rhoads blasted his second home run in the game in the top of the 8th but the damage had been done. After two more runs in the bottom of the 8th the Bulldogs were victorious at 11-4.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Jeff Rhoads who was 2 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Mike Mitchell was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
