The perfect game will have to wait. Aided by eight Oconomowoc errors, Johnson Creek scored 11 runs in the first four innings to beat Oconomowoc 11-5 in Tri County play on Friday night. Neither team scored in the 1st and in the 2nd Oconomowoc grabbed a short lived one run lead. In the bottom half of the 2nd the Pioneers scored six unearned runs off starter Nick Stamm who got very little help behind him defensively. Creek scored three more in the 3rd and two more in the 4th and the Five O's were looking down the barrel of a run rule. Chris Fischer came in for relief and steadied the ship. In the top of the 7th, Oconomowoc managed to push one across to avoid the run rule and added three more in the top of the 9th but it was too little, too late and the final was 11-5.
On the mound Horse took the loss going four innings giving up 11 runs (four earned) on nine hits while walking three, striking out two and hitting one batter. Chris Fischer threw three innings allowing no runs on two hits while walking one and striking out one. Bob Bolson threw the final frame for Oconomowoc allowing no runs on one hit and one walk. Rob Pfaff earned the complete game win for Creek.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Brett Marshall who was 2 for 3 and Shawn Tremaine who was 2 for 4.
The loss puts Oconomowoc at 1-4 in the Tri County Night League. The square up in a battle for 1st place in the LOL West on Sunday when they host the Brookfield Bulldogs at 1:00 pm.
