The Five O's completed a two-win weekend on Sunday with a 21-6 victory over Merton in LOL action on Sunday. They put six runs on the board in their first two innings before Merton answered with six runs of their own in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game. Chris Fischer shut the door on Merton the rest of the day but the Oconomowoc offense was far from done. They added three more runs in the top of the 3rd to regain the lead which they would never relinquish. They scored one in the 4th, six in the fifth and five in the sixth in what would be a 23-hit run-rule performance for Oconomowoc. When all was said and done, the final was 21-6 and Oconomowoc remains in a two way tie for first place in the LOL West. Chris Fischer earned the abbreviated complete game win going all seven innings allowing six runs (three earned) on five hits while walking one and striking out five. Fischer improves to 4-1 in LOL play this year. At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Luke Nelson who was 5 for 6 with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs. Jeff Rhoads was 4 for 6 with two doubles and Mike Mitchell was 3 for 3 with two doubles.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 13-2 in the LOL West in a two way tie with Lannon for 1st place. With three games remaining in the LOL West, Oconomowoc is guaranteed at least a 3rd place or higher finish. The top two seeds in the LOL West playoffs receive a bye in the first round and the top seed is allowed one loss in the playoff format.
Oconomowoc next travels to Hustisford on Friday night for a Tri County matchup. On Saturday they take on The Next Bar "All Stars" in a fund raiser before traveling to North Lake on Sunday for LOL action.
