It took another late inning comeback but the Five O's ended the 2009 Tri County season by scoring five runs in the bottom of the 8th and holding Neosho in the 9th, handing them their first loss of the year. Holding a 5-4 going into the top of the 8th Neosho chased starter Chris Fischer after scoring three more runs taking a 7-5 lead. Steve Rhoads led off the bottom of the 8th with a single and a walk to Shawn Tremaine and single by Derek Daudna loaded the bases. A fielders choice scored one run putting the score at 6-5 with runners on first and second with one out. Erik Olson drew a walk to load the bases and a flyout brought Jeff Rhoads to the plate. Rhoads hit a shallow fly ball to right which was dropped and allowed three runs to score. Derek Nelson made that error hurt even worse when he then blasted a two run home run to left center field putting the score at 10-7. Nelson came in to close down the game picking up the save. Chris Fischer threw the first 7.1 innings for Oconomowoc allowing seven runs (five earned) on 13 hits while walking four and striking out one. Josh Bouche earned a nine pitch win going .2 innings allowing no runs on no hits while striking out one. Derek Nelson picked up the save going one inning allowing one run on one hit while walking one, hitting one and striking out one.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Steve Rhoads who was 4 for 5 with a double and two runs scored.
The win finishes Oconomowoc's 2009 Tri County season with a 4-6 record. They travel to Lannon on Sunday where a win could lock the #1 seed for Oconomowoc in the LOL West playoffs.
