Five O's destroy Monches
May 11, 1994
The Oconomowoc Five O's stormed out of the starting gate for the Land O'Lakes season behind player/manager Jason Brown Sunday.
Brown's stable of thoroughbreds strode out to a 15-length lead through six innings, stumbled a bit on the turn, and then cruised home for a 21-8 win over the Monches Twins.
O's starting pitcher Kevin Brown served as head horseman, allowing one run in six innings of work and ripping three hits at the plate.
When he left the game, the O's held a 16-1 lead.
Monches rallied for seven runs in the seventh inning, but Steve Rhoads entered the game to cool the Twins' drive.
The O's then added five more runs, with Jason Brown smashing a two-run home run in the ninth to close the scoring.
Leadoff hitter Ron Meunier drove in four runs, and a quintet of others drove in three. Tim Froemming and a trimmed-down Steve Smith delivered four hits apiece.
Next week, the Oconomowoc nine returns home to face North Lake at Roosevelt Field. Game time is 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
The O's also announced their golf outing will take place at 8 a.m. on May 21 at Paganica Golf Course. Tickets are $50 per golfer and include 18-hole greens fees, golf cart, lunch, beer, soda and door prizes.
