O's canned by Clyman
August 18, 1993

The Oconomowoc Five O's saw their last flickering rays of winning a championship in 1993 dimmed to darkness on Thursday as they lost 12-3 to Clyman in a Southeastern Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Association quarterfinal game.
Clyman is currently 14-0 and in first place in the Southern Division of the Rock River League.
After a loss last week eliminated Oconomowoc from the Land O'Lakes Western Division title chase, advancing in the SWABA tourney was the O's last hope for winning any heavy headgear.
However, those hopes lasted exactly four batters as Clyman loaded the bases on two walks and a single before clean-up man Jim Oleshko blasted a ball over the center field fence.
For Oconomowoc, things went downhill from there as Clyman put a Lincoln on the board for a 9-2 lead after three innings.
Clyman starting pitcher Eugene Oleshko cruised home to a complete game win as the O's bats remained silent for the fourth consecutive game.
In that stretch, Oconomowoc has scored nine runs.
"We need to find a better place to store our bats, besides the freezer," said O's infielder Steve Smith.
However, the O's found a way to make the loss more tolerable as player/manager Jason Brown engineered a lineup change that moved catcher Erik Olson to the mound for the first time and outfielder John Anderson was sent behind the plate to become the first left-handed catcher in O's history.
