Five O's gain win
May 25, 1994
The Oconomowoc Five O's went out to the lumberyard in Merton last Sunday and hammered out a 10-4 win over the A's in a Land O'Lakes League contest.
Merton got on the board in the first inning of starting pitcher Kevin Brown to take a 1-0 lead.
The O's capitalized on Merton's generosity in the third inning, as two hits turned into four runs as three players drew walks and Jeff Ranta and Greg Hackbart both doubled.
Oconomowoc build a 6-3 through five innings, and Ron Meunier provided a cushion in the sixth with a home run over the left-field fence. Meunier would also have two hits, two walks, score three times and steal three bases.
Steve Smith also led the offense, slashing three hits and raising his batting average to .556.
Chad Brown came on into relief, hurling the last four innings and allowing only one hit to pick up the save.
The O's are now positioned for a showdown at Lannon next Sunday as the Stonemen, defending Western Division Champions, are also undefeated.
