Lannon batters Five O's
August 10, 1994

The Oconomowoc Five O's drive for the 1994 Land O'Lakes Western Division title came to a screeching halt Saturday as league-leading Lannon pounded out a 13-3 victory at Roosevelt Field.
Lannon, with it's Murderer's Row lineup, held a slim 2-0 lead in the third inning, with a runner on first, when Jay Olsewski, Whitney McCurdy and Bob Lutz homered.
Suddenly the lead was 6-0, and the Oconomowoc pennant race was as good as over. Tim Olsewski started on the hill for the Stonemen and cruised to a complete game victory.
Ron Meunier led the O's bats, gaining two hits, including a double, in five plate appearances.
Jeff Ranta also smashed a home run for the local nine.
Sunday, Oconomowoc bounced back at Pewaukee for a 16-10 victory. Pewaukee had defeated the O's earlier in the season, but managers Jason Brown's warriors took their pound of flesh this time around.
Pirate hurler Gary Busch had defeated the O's the two previous times he had faced them, but Sunday, the offense got to the heart of the nemesis.
Steve Rhoads and Bob Anderson each homered for the local nine, while Tim Nelson ripped a pair of triples - continuing his quest for Rookie of the Year honors.
Oconomowoc was out front 14-5 by the sixth inning and held on for the six-run victory.
The O's record now stands at 4-2 in the second half, 10-5 overall. The final home game of the season is tentatively scheduled for Saturday against Merton in a make-up contest. Sunday's scheduled game is at 1:30 in Menomonee Falls.
