O's handle Hartland, lose to Lannon
June 1, 1994
The Oconomowoc Five O's celebrated Memorial Day in an appropriate fashion this weekend, dusting off the heavy artillery to outgun the Hartland Oilers 23-20 Monday.
The O's wasted no time getting on the board as they assaulted Hartland starter Mark Fiala for ten runs in the top of the first inning.
The offense charge was not a moment too soon, though. Hartland responded with eleven runs to conclude an astonishing first inning.
Oconomowoc trailed 14-13 into the seventh inning when the offense exploded one more time. Designated hitter Bob Anderson slapped a two-run single that finally gave the O's a lead they would not relinquish.
Six more runs crossed the plate before the inning ended.
The victory was a needed bounce back, as the O's had faltered Sunday in another slugfest with division leading Lannon.
The final in the Lannon game was 24-9, despite Steve Rhoads' four hits and two home runs.
