Five O's down Falls
August 17, 1994
The Oconomowoc Five O's finally scratched a seven-year itch with a 10-5 win at Menomonee Falls.
It was the first time since 1987 that the O's have topped the Lakers in Menomonee Falls.
Oconomowoc scored three times in the second inning, assisted by some Falls fielding miscues. Three singles, a walk, two wild pitches and an error resulted in a 4-1 O's lead.
That lead held until the fifth inning, when a questionable call at second base and a throwing error by the O's allowed Falls to tie the game at 4-4.
However, that rally would be the last time the Lakers lineup seriously crack pitcher Chad Brown's armor. Brown scattered twelve hits and walked only two batters as he posted his second career victory over one of the Land O'Lakes League's top offensive lineups.
Brown got the offensive push he needed in the seventh inning when Ron Meunier, who led off with a triple, scored on Bob Anderson's double to right. Steve Rhoads, Jeff Ranta, Tim Nelson and Steve Smith then rapped four singles in succession, and Brett Bender tripled to bring in six runs, and the victory, for Brown.
The O's are now 11-5 in the LOL West, and will close out the season with a home game against Merton Saturday, (likely start time of 1:30 p.m.), and a trip to Sussex on Sunday, with another 1:30 p.m. start.
