Three All-Stars lead O's
July 14, 1993
Mike Michalsky, shown at bat during the 1991 American Legion State Tournament in Beloit, has been selected to represent the Oconomowoc Five O's in Sunday's Land O'Lakes All-Star Game
The Oconomowoc Five O's have been playing some pretty good baseball lately and that was noticed as the Land O'Lakes Western Division managers made their selections for the annual All-Star Game, East vs. West at North Lake at 2 p.m. July 18.
Three O's, infielder Steve Rhoads, outfielder Mike Michalsky, and pitcher Greg Hackbart, have been named to the West squad.
Primarily a third baseman, infielder Steve Rhoads has also played two other field positions this season and has a mound victory as well. In an O's win over Menomonee Falls July 5, Rhoads reached base each time in three at-bats and scored two runs.
In addition, Rhoads is the only O to have played in every game this season and currently has a .444 on-base percentage.
Michalsky has been a nightmare for opposing pitchers, battling a sizzling .500. In two games over the Independance Day holiday, Michalsky batted .375. Currently, Michalsky's slugging average is a healthy .733 and he has driven the game-winning run three times for the O's season.
Hackbart, a left-handed thrower, has been the anchor man for the O's pitching staff and also a tough out as a designated hitter. In a game against Lannon on July 4, Hackbart went 4-for-4, including a solo home run.
Currently, Hackbart has two pitching victories and is batting .412.
In a scheduled first half make-up game on Saturday, the Oconomowoc Five O's were forced to forfeit the contest as they had just eight players available.
The loss dropped Oconomowoc to 5-4 for the first half while Falls improved to 9-0.
Due to wet field conditions, the scheduled game on Sunday between Oconomowoc and Sussex was postponed.
