Despite outhitting the Brookfield 12 to 4, Oconomowoc lost to the Bulldogs to open their 4th of July weekend by a score of 7-3. At the plate Oconomowoc left 12 men on base and on the mound the Five O's walked seven batters and hit one which helped contribute to the loss. Things were scoreless until the top of the 4th when Brookfield put an unearned run across the plate. In the top of the 5th starting pitcher Justin Mortensen walked two batters, hit a batter and then walked another batter before being releaved by Matt Schref. Before the inning was over, five Brookfield batters scored to put the score at 6-0. Oconomowoc got a run in the bottom of the 5th but were never able to mount a serious comeback leaving too many runners on base. Justin Mortensen took the loss for Oconomowoc going 4+ innings allowing five runs (three earned) on no hits while walking six, striking out four and hitting one batter. Matt Schref threw three innings allowing two runs on four hits while walking none and striking out two. Steve Rhoads threw two scoreless innings allowing no hits with one walk and one strikeout. At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Mike Mitchell who went 4 for 4 with two doubles and walk.
