The Five O's pounded out 13 hits and 14 runs on Sunday to beat the Hartland Oilers in LOL action. The game was scoreless until Oconomowoc broke the seal in the bottom of the 4th when Luke Nelson led off the inning with a home run. Derek Nelson then singled and moved to second on a balk. He moved to third on a ground out and then scored on a past ball. Josh Bouche scored the third run in the inning after drawing a walk and scoring on a throwing error. In the top of the 5th Hartland pushed two runs across to make the score 3-2. Oconomowoc came right back and scored five more runs in the bottom of the 5th when Jeff Rhoads led off with a triple to right and scored on a sac fly by Luke Nelson. Derek Nelson then tripled which was followed by a double from Mike Mitchell. A walk and two more Hartland errors led to the rest of the runs in the inning. In the bottom of the 6th Oconomowoc added four more runs on a grand slam by Mike Mitchell putting the score at 12-2. Two runs in the bottom of the 7th secured the 14-2 run rule for Oconomowoc.
On the mound Matt Schref got the complete game win going seven innings allowing two runs (none earned) on two hits while walking one, striking out 11 and hitting one batter.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Luke Nelson who was 4 for 4 with a home run, double, three runs and three RBIs. Mike Mitchell was 3 for 4 with a grand slam and double. Luke finished the weekend going 8 for 9 with two home runs and two doubles.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 13-3 in the LOL West, a game and a half in front of the Brookfield Bulldogs. They travel to West Bend Tuesday night for a rare LOL night game before traveling to Brookfield on Saturday to take on the Bulldogs in their final LOL regular season game of the year. If the Five O's win Tuesday night, they will clinch first place in the LOL West.
