The Five Os opened the 2008 Tri County season with some impressive hitting on a windy night in Hustisford. Both teams were swinging the bat well with 17 total runs scored in the first four innings. Oconomowoc got on the board early with two runs in the 1st, two runs in the 2nd and four runs in the 3rd. Helping to plate those runs was a two-run home run by Mike Mitchell in the 1st and a three-run home run by Josh Fenzl in the 3rd. Solid hitting up and down the lineup helped produce the remaining four runs for Oconomowoc. Steve Rhoads started on the hill for Oconomowoc and went four innings. Hustisford slugged out 12 hits and nine off him but Oconomowoc was able to do the same off their starter. In the 5th inning, Tyler Zimmer came in for relief and shut down Hustisford for the next five innings only allowing 1 hit and no runs while striking out 8 and picking up the win.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Mike Eppler and Tyler Zimmer who had three hits each. Five other players contributed two hits each for the winning effort. Mitchell and Fenzl each had a home run.
The Five Os get back to LOL action on Sunday against the Brookfield Blue Sox at home. Game time is 1:00 pm at Roosevelt Field.
