Woes Continue for Five O's in Tri County Night League

7/16/2008 Print this page
The Five O's had another weak showing in their Tri County game against Hartford on Wednesday night. Things started off well for Oconomowoc in the bottom of the 1st when Erik Olson led off with a double and came around to score on a two-out double by Josh Bouche putting Oconomowoc up 1-0. Derek Nelson added their second run in the bottom of the 3rd when he blasted a home run to left field putting the score at 2-1. Hartford came back and scored three runs in the top of the 4th. Oconomowoc did not give up and put another run across in the bottom of the 4th after Mike Eppler reached on an error and scored on a single by Shawn Tremaine. Hartford extended their lead to 8-4 in when they came to bat in the top of the 7th. I believe it is safe to say this is when the wheels officially fell off for Oconomowoc. In the inning, Hartford scored seven runs and Oconomowoc made 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th errors. With the score 15-4, Oconomowoc was able to score one run in the bottom of the 7th but it was not enough to prevent the run-rule. In the game, Oconomowoc committed nine errors. Out of Hartford's 15 runs, only one was earned.
Taking the loss for Oconomowoc was Derek Nelson. Derek went 4 innings allowing 4 runs (none earned) on no hits while walking 7, hitting 1 and striking out 2. Jeff Rhoads went two innings allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits while walking 1, hitting 1 and striking out 2. Steve threw the final deadful inning allowing 7 runs (none earned) on 5 hits while walking none and striking out 2.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Shawn Tremaine who was 2 for 3. Derek Nelson had a home run.
Oconomowoc gets back to LOL action hosting Pewaukee on Saturday at 2:00 pm and then traveling to Lannon on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
