The Five Os went 1-1 for the Memorial Day weekend putting them at 4-1 in the LOL West. Saturday's game was against rival Lannon. The Stonemen got on starting pitcher Rob Becker early scoring 4 runs in the first 3 innings. Ron Kozlowski went the distance for Lannon on the mound and kept the Five Os' bats in check only allowing 2 runs through the first 8 innings. The game was within reach for Oconomowoc before Lannon scored 5 in the top of the 7th sending 10 batters to the plate and putting the score at 9-2. Oconomowoc was able to push 2 across in the 9th but it was too little, too late. Rob Becker took the loss for Oconomowoc going 3+ innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2. Mike Bolson pitched the remaining 6 innings allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 9 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6. Both pitchers hit one batter.
At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Derek Nelson who was 3 for 5 with a double and RBI. Jeff Rhoads and Josh Bouche each had 2 hits in the losing effort.
The Five Os got back on their winning ways on Sunday with a win over Menomonee Falls. Oconomowoc was able to score a run in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings putting the score at 3-0. Mike Mitchell led off the bottom of the 2nd with a double and scored on Josh Bouche's single. Luke Nelson led off the bottom of the 3rd with a single and eventually scored on a stolen base attempt on Jeff Rhoads. Tony Briggs scored in the bottom of the 4th when Falls second baseman Ryan Weissman was unable to handle a popup from Mike Eppler in shallow right field. Both teams traded runs in the 7th to put the eventual final score at 4-1.
On the mound Tony Briggs pitched a complete gem for Oconomowoc. He allowed 1 run on 7 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1. Briggs also contributed at the plate with a 2 for 3 day and 2 runs scored. Jeff Rhoads and Josh Bouche also had 2 hits in the winning effort.
The weekend puts Oconomowoc at 4-1 in the LOL West, 1 game behind Lannon and Sussex, both of which are undefeated. They get back to Tri County action with a game on Wednesday in Horicon and then a LOL game against West Bend on Sunday. Game time is 7:30 in Horicon on Wednesday and 1:00 pm in Oconomowoc on Sunday.
