6/6/2008 Print this page
Oconomowoc came back from a 6-1 defecit to edge out Mayville 7-6 in Tri County action on Friday night. Mayville got on the board early with 2 runs in the 1st inning. Oconomowoc got one of those runs back in the top of the 2nd only to have Mayville score again in the bottom of the 2nd to put the score at 3-1. Mayville dropped 3 more on Oconomowoc in the bottom of the 4th to put the score at 6-1. The Five Os got a good chunk back in the top of 5th when they scored 4 runs to put the score at 6-5. Erik Olson started the rally by getting on via a one out error. Back to back singles by Bob Bolson and Griff Bell scored the first run and a mental mishap by Mayville led to another run. Tony Briggs then laced a double down the line to score 2 more. The Five Os tied the game in the top of the 6th with a lead off home run by Jeff Rhoads. Finally in the top of the 7th Griff Bell led off with a double and ended up scoring wild pitch with a great hustle. Steve Rhoads made sure the score remained that way for the rest of the game when he came in to pitch the final 2 innings and struck out all 6 outs.
Tyler Zimmer got the win for Oconomowoc going 7 innings giving up 6 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits while striking out 4 and walking 6. Steve Rhoads earned the save. At the plate Oconomowoc was led by Griff Bell who was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored, a double and RBI.
