After battling back and taking the top of the 6th inning, Brookfield scored what would end up to be the winning run on a past ball in the bottom of the 8th inning. After jumping on Oconomowoc with five runs in the bottom of the 1st inning including a grand slam from Bill Posteluk, the Five O's managed to scrape their way back into the game before scoring seven runs in the top of the 6th to take a 10-9 lead. Things remained that way until the bottom of the 8th when Brookfield scored two runs to take the lead and eventually win the game. Oconomowoc left 10 runners on base in the loss.
Oconomowoc was led by Josh Bouche who was 3 for 3 with a walk and hit by pitch. Matt Schref started on the hill for Oconomowoc going 4 2/3 innings allowing 9 runs (7 earned) on 11 hits while walking 3. Luke Nelson took the tough loss going 3 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits while walking 1 and striking out 1.
Oconomowoc plays their final LOL regular season game against Brookfield next Saturday at home at 2:00 pm. With one week remaining they can still finish as high as 3rd and as low as 6th. Playoffs will begin the following week on August 9th with dates and locations yet to be determined.
