Five Os Play Small Ball in Ninth Inning Win Over Rubicon
The Five Os, who are averaging over 12 runs a game, used small ball
with clutch hitting by Josh Fenzl and James Schlosser to defeat Rubicon
3-2 at Watertown in the Tri County Nite League. Rubicon took a 1-0
lead in the top of the fourth with a single by Lee Kaul, a walk to L Daley
and a rbi single by J Menzel. Oconomowoc grabbed a 2-1 lead in the
bottom of the seventh when Mike Mitchell was hit by a pitch, Dan
Schlosser reached on a error on a sacrifice bunt with both runners
advancing a base on the error and scoring on a single to right field
by Fenzl. Rubicon tied the score at 2-2 on leadoff singles by J Chapman
and J Jacklon, a walk to D Lockes and a ground out by Kaul. The
Five Os scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a one out
bases loaded single by James Schlosser, who just returned from his
graduation and senior year on the Xavier University baseball team.
Mike Mitchell had walked and went to third on an error on a sacrifice bunt
by D Schlosser. Fenzl was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Oconomowc had four sacrifces in the game. There were 20 strike outs in
the game.
Rookie Kirk Ressler, who picked up his fourth win of the season, is 3-0
in the TCNL. Ressler gave up two runs on four hits, three walks and
ten strike outs in his second complete game win. Starter Brian Lorrigan
went seven innings with two runs, none earned, wiht four hits, a walk,
two hit batters and eight strike outs for Rubicon. Reliever D Lockes
took the loss with one unearned run on one hit, three walks and two
strike outs.
