Lannon played their game Sunday by scoring four runs in the first
inning, scoring in six of the nine innings on 21 hits, a complete game
win on an eight hitter by Scott Doffex and coasted to a 12-5 win over
the Five Os to earn a playoff spot in the 2005 LOL Grand Championship.
Catcher Dean Haase lead off the game with a home run for the Stonemen.
They added three more runs in the inning as Doffek singled, Ron
Kozlowski walked, Bob had an rbi single, Jim Barwick singled and Scott
Hagen, who had five singles in the game, had a two run single.
Oconomowoc scored a run in the bottom of the second as Sean Smith
walked and scored on a ground out by Steve Rhoads to cut the lead to 4-1.
Lannon added a run in the top of the third inning when Bob Manders
walked and scored on a single by Hagen. The Stonemen took a 7-1 lead
in the top of the fourth as Haase had another lead off home run, Dan Wnuk
singled and scored by a sacrifice fly by Manders after a walk to Doffek
and single by Kozlowski. The Five Os scored two in the fourth after a
double by Smith and single by Mike Mitchell, a double play scored Smith and a single by S Rhoads scored Mitchell to cut the lead to 7-3. The Stonemen put the game away with a three runs in the top of the seventh
on singles by Jim Barwick and Hagen, a sacrifce by Brian Metzger, an
intentional walk to Haase, a two run single by Doffek and an RBI double
by Steve Gudento lead by a score of 10-3. In the bottom of the seventh,
S Rhoads and Tim Schlosser walked. S Rhoads scored on a double by J Rhoads. Lannon scored a run in the eighth on a leadoff Manders home
run and a run in the ninth on a double by Dan Wnuk, single by Doffek and
double by Guden. The Five Os scored the final run on singles by Kevin
Raasch and S Rhoads. Mike Eppler, running for Raasch scored on a sacrifice fly by Tim Schlosser.
Hagen was 5 for 5 with three rbis. Haase 3 for 5 with two RBIs, two
home runs and three runs scored. Doffek was 3 for 5 with two RBIs.
Manders was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and runs scored. J Rhoads was 3
for 4, S Rhoads was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Winning pitcher Doffek gave up five runs, four earned, on eight hits,
seven walks and five strike outs in none innings. Rob Becker took the
loss with 10 runs on 16 hits, five walks, two strike outs in seven
innings. Nelson gave up two runs on five hits and a strike out in two
innings.
