Mitchell's GrandSlam Tops Off Comeback Over Kewaskum
Mike Mitchell hit a grand slam home run over the right center field
fence in the bottom of the the eighth inning for a come from behind
11-8 win over Kewaskum at Watertown in the Tri County Nite League Wednesday
night. After taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a
solo shot by Mitchell and a two run home run by Derek Nelson, Kewaskum
scored five runs, three earned, in the top of the second on a leadoff
single by Adam Sarauer, walk to Tim Roe and RBI doubles by Jake Panzer
and J Qiegler tied the score at three. Tye Schill reached on an error
and scored on a fielder's choice by Korey Immel, who later scored on a
error. Kewaksum added single runs in the fifth and sixth inning as
Jason Strobel, who had doubled, scored on a sacrifice fly by Tim Roe
and Spaeth, who doubled, scored on a single by Steve Ketter for a 7-3 lead.
The Five Os added a run in the bottom of the sixth as Jeff Rhoads
doubled down the right field line and scored on a single by Nelson.
After a great diving catch by Mitchell to end the top of the seventh
inning to save a run, Oconomowoc closed the gap to 7-6 with two runs as
James Schlosser and Mitchell singled. Schlosser scored on a throwing error at first on a double play ball. J Rhoads went to second on the
error, stole third and scored on a wild pitch on the play. Kewaskum
increased the lead to 8-6 on a bunt single by Spaeth, stolen base, went
to third on a error on the play and scored on a sacrifce fly by Immel.
The sloppy game, there were ten errors, continued in the bottom of the
eighth inning as Mike Eppler reached on an errror, went to second on a
sacrifice by Gunnar Kroesberg, and scored on a single by Kevin Raasch.
Raasch went to second on an error, Schlosser singled for his third hit
and Steve Rhoads walked to load the bases. Mitchell added the
dramatics.
The Five Os improved to 7-2 in the TCNL with the final regular season
game at Pardeeville on Friday night. Oconomowoc will be in the six
team playoffs where the sixth team plays the fifth team with the winner
playing the fourth team, etc. in a single elimination format.
