Oconomowoc Alone in First Place with Thrilling Weekend

On the strength of Kirk Ressler's six inning three hit, no run pitching
and Derek Nelson's two home runs and five rbis, the Five Os defeated
Merton 12-0 in a seven inning run rule game on Saturday. Ressler, who
gave up two walks, two hit batters with four strike outs to improve to
6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Land O Lakes, added his first Five Os base
hit with an RBI single to left field in the third inning. Nelson, who
leads the Five Os with a .528 average, hit both home runs over the
center field fence and scored three runs. Jeff Rhoads, who had four
singles in five at bats with three runs and three rbis, pitched the
final inning giving up one hit. James Schlosser scored two runs.
Oconomowoc's center fielder Bob Bolson made a great diving catch in the
first inning. Merton's starting pitcher Bobby Bastien, who had two
singles, took the loss with five runs on three hits, five walks and a
strike out in 1 1/3 innings. Ryan Zuner gave up weven runs, five
earned, on seven hits, three walks and two strike outs in 5 2/3
innings. Kurt Wolf and Kevin Birdow also singled for Merton. 6/19/05
In a slugfest battle of the 8-1 first place teams it came down to the
only starter without a hit, Kevin Raasch, who lined a dramatic two out,
bases loaded 1-2 pitch to left center field for a dramatic 15-14 win
for the Five Os. The "never say die" Lannon Stonemen scored eight runs
in the top of the ninth inning, four runs with one out and four runs on a
two out grand slam home run by relief pitcher, Steve Guden, for a 14-13
lead. Derek Nelson, who gave up two unearned runs on three hits, got
the win with a 1/3 inning relief of starter Rob Becker. Becker gave up
12 runs, seven earned, on 14 hits, three walks, three hit batters, three
balks and a strike out in 8 2/3 innings. Lannon starter Ron Kozlowski
gave up 11 runs, 10 earned, on 17 hits, a walk, hit batter and three
strike outs in 5 innings. Guden gave up four runs, on six hits, two
walks and three strike outs in 3 2/3 innings in the loss.
Lannon scored two runs in the top of the first inning on a leadoff
single by Dean Haase and a two run home run by Bob Manders. The
Five Os took a 3-2 lead on the bottom of the first on a single by
James Schlosser, double by Tim Schlosser, two run double by Jeff Rhoads and an RBI single by Sean Smith. Lannon tied the game in the top of
the second on a leadoff walk to Dan Wnuk and a two out single by Ben
Kaebisch. Oconomowoc scored four runs in the bottom of the second on
singles by Steve Rhoads, J Schlosser and T Schlosser. Nelson had a two run single, Mike Mitchell had an RBI single and Pete Schlosser had a sacrifice fly to center for a 7-3 lead. Lannon cut the lead in half
with two runs in the third on a walk to Manders, double by Guden and
RBI singles by Kozlowski and Wnuk. The Five Os made it 8-5 in the bottom
of the third on singles by J Schlosser, T Schlosser and RBI single by J Rhoads and 10-5 in the fourth on a leadoff double by Smith, single by
Mitchell, RBI fielders choice by P Schlosser and S Rhoads. Dean Haase scored an unearned run in the sixth for Lannon on a couple of errors.
Oconomowoc made the score 11-6 in the bottom of the sixth on a leadoff
double by Mitchell, his fourth hit, and an RBI single by P Schlosser
and 13-6 in the bottom of the seventh on a leadoff double by J Rhoads,
sacrifice fly by Smith, single by Mitchell and an RBI double by P Schlosser. After Becker got the first out in the top of the ninth,
Kozlowski singled, Wnuk had an RBI single, Scott Hagen singled and Jim
Barwick reached on a error to lead the bases. After Kaebisch lined to
second for the second out of the inning, Haase was hit by a pitch.
After a balk scored a run, Scott Doffek singled home two runs which
brought in Nelson in relief. Manders singled to load the bases setting
the stage for Guden's slam. Kozlowski doubled before Nelson got Wnuk
to ground out to end the inning. The Five Os manager, Jeff Rhoads
singled up the middle for his fourth hit. After a sacrifice and two walks
loaded the bases, a strike out brought Raasch to the plate for his
shining moment.
T Schlosser, J Rhoads and Mike Mitchell had four hits each and J Schlosser and P Schlosser three hits each. Rhoads, Mitchell and J Schlosser had three runs each. P Schlosser had four RBIs for Oconomowoc. Manders and Kozlowski had three hits each and Doffek,
Guden, Wnuk and Kaebisch had two hits each for Lannon. Guden had four
rbis and Doffek, Manders and Wnuk had two RBIs each. It was the third
win by Oconomowoc over Lannon as they swept the two regular season Land
O Lakes games and won the Tri County Nite League game. It is very
likely they may see each other in the Playoffs and some more fireworks.
