Racine hitters were too much for the Five Os in a 9-2 second round
loss at Hustisford in a seven inning SWABA tournament game. Racine scored
four runs in the first and fifth innings with nine of their ten hits in
those two innings. The visiting Five Os offense did not help the
cause by hitting into three double plays in the seven inning game including
the first inning. After Racine's Brady Knudsen reached on an error in
Racine's first inning, four consecutive singles by Ryan Schmidt, Jason
Herzoz, Wes Frens and Kyle Silver to bring home two runs. A bases
loaded walk to Mike Jacobson and ground out by Joe Wendt brought home
two more runs. Knudson walked to lead off the second, went to third on
a single by Herzog and scored on a sacrifice fly to left by Frens for a
5-0 lead. Oconomowoc scored in the fourth as Jeff Rhoads lead off
with a double to left center and scored on a single by Mike Mitchell.
Mitchell scored on a two out error on a fly ball. In the fifth
inning, after a double by Five Os Derek Nelson and a walk to Mike Eppler, the
third double play of the game ended the Five Os rally. In the bottom
of the fifth Racine put the game away with five straight hits including
doubles by Frens and Wendt with singles by Silver, Jacobson and John
Lequia in between.
For Oconomowoc James Schlosser and Derek Nelson had two hits with
Mitchell the only RBI. Racine was lead by Herzog, Frens and Silver with
two hits and Wendt had three RBIs. Kirk Ressler took the loss with
nine runs, eight earned, on ten hits, seven walks and three strike outs in
six innings. Riley Weidner got the win with two runs, one earned, on
seven hits, two walks and seven strike outs in seven innings.
The two teams currently lead their respective Land O Lakes divisions.
Racine is 9-1 in the Eastern Division. The Five Os are 10-1 in the
Western Division. The Eastern Division play the Werstern Divison LOL
All Stars at Hartland on 7/10/05. Racine also are in first place in
the Milwaukee Langsdorf week day league.
After the All Star game, the Five Os return to action at Hustisford on
Wed 7/13/05 at 7:30 PM in the TCNL and host Sussex on Sunday 7/17/05 at
1 PM.
