Pardeeville Hands Os Loss In Tri County Play

Host Pardeeville turned the tables Friday night with a 15-10 win in the final Tri County Nite League game of the regular season for the Five Os. Oconomowoc has at least a three game winnng streak at Paredeeville, including a 20-3 run rule last year. After cousins Dan and Tim Schlosser lead off the first inning with singles, a double play and a runner thrown out at home on a passed ball, ended the inning. Five of the first six Pardeeville batters scored in the bottom of the first as Tim Considine bunted for a single, Jeff Jenkins singled but was picked off first base. After Jason Nelson walked, the next five batters drove in a run on singles by Ryan Kaufman, Daryl Zimmerman and Brian Bortz, who is a nephew of Mark Bortz of the Chicago Bears. Gtreg Jenkins had a fielder's choice and Randy Fischer singled for the fifth run as the Braves batted around in the inning. The Five Os bounced back with two runs in the second as Derek Nelson singled and Mike Mitchell doubled. Steve Rhoads hit a sacrfice fly and Paul Gephart had a RBI fielder's choice. In the bottom of the second J Jenkins singled, went to third on a double by J Nelson and scored on a sacrifce fly by Kaufman. Fischer made the score 7-2 in the bottom of the third inning with the first of his two solo home runs in his 4 for 4 and four RBI career night. The Five Os nearly duplicated the second inning as Nelson singled, Mitchell doubled and each scored on back to back 4-3 ground outs by S Rhoads and Gephart for two runs. The Braves blew the game open with six runs in the fifth with a single by Bortz, RBI double by G Jenkins, RBI single by Fischer, single by John Pankea, single by J Jenkins and two RBI singles by J Nelson and Zimmerman for a 13-4 lead and potential ten run rule game. J Rhoads lead off the sixth with a long home run to right center field. Derek Nelson followed with a single, went to third on a single by Mitchell, who was 5 for 5 with two doubles, a home run, three runs and three RBIs in the game, and scored on a single by Kirk Ressler. Fischer hit his second home run in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 14-6 Braves lead. T Schlosser doubled and scored on a single by Mitchell in the seventh. Pardeeville macthed that with a walk to J Jenkins, who scored on a two out error. Oconomowoc completed the scoring in the top of the ninth as Tim Schlosser singled, J Rhoads walked, D Nelson had an RBI gound out and Mitchell hit a two run home run.

Jeff Rhoads took the loss for Oconomowoc giving up 13 runs, 12 earned, on 16 hits, two walks and two stirke outs in five innings. Tim Schlosser gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits, a walk and four strike outs in three innings. Mike Densman was the winning pitcher with seven runs, six earned, on 13 hits, and four strike outs in seven innings. Wes Kramer gave up three runs, three hits, two walks and two strike outs in two innings. Fischer had hitting support from the Braves with J Jenkins was 3 for 3 with three runs, J Nelson was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs and Zimmerman 2 for 5 with three RBIs. Mitchell was aided by D Nelson at 3 for 5 with three runs and an RBI, T Schlosser at 3 for 5 with two runs and D Schlosser was 2 for 5.

Oconomowoc finished the TCNL at 7-3 and reached the six team playoffs for the first time in over three years. The format is a ladder approach where the sixth and fifth teams play with the winner playing fourth, etc. Oconomowoc is probably in second or third place. Schedules have not been determined.
