Oconomowoc Hands Oilers First Loss of Season

The Five Os hitting machine continued to slug its way to the top of the LOL Western Division with a 16-3 win over previously unbeaten host Hartland. The Five Os, Oilers and Lannon are tied at 6-1 for the season. Oconomowoc took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a walk to Pete Schlosser, a single by Steve "Dusty" Rhoads, a sacrifice by Mike Mitchell and an RBI ground out by Kevin Raasch. The Oilers scored two runs in the bottom of the second on a walk to Chad Dibb, an RBI double by starting pitcher Brian Henschel and a two out single by Chris Burbick. The Five Os scored four runs in the top of the third with singles by manager Jeff Rhoads and Derek Nelson and a walk to Sean Smith to load the bases. Pete Schlosser dropped an RBI single over shortstop and all runners advanced on a throwing error. S Rhoads doubled to right center plating two runs. Hartland scored their final run in the bottom of the third inning on a leadoff single by Dave Hubka and an RBI double by Bryan Laabs. The Five Os scored two runs in the top of the fourth as Tim Schlosser reached on a error and scored on a home run to right field by J Rhoads for a 7-4 lead. Oconomowoc took control of the game with five in the fifth inning as Luke Knuppenburg relieved starter Henschel. Mitchell singled, Raasch walked, James Schlosser had an RBI single, brother Tim Schlosser singled home two more runs, J Rhoads reached on an error and Nelson doubled home a run. The Five Os continued the hit parade in the top of the sixth with a leadoff single by S Rhoads, walk to Mitchell and single by Raasch. J Schlosser hit a sacrifice fly to center and T Schlosser's ground out scored a run. Mike Eppler drove in the final two runs in the top of the ninth scoring Nelson who had walked and Smith who was hit by a pitch with both advancing on a walk to Bob Bolson.

Leading the Five Os hit attack was Nelson was 4 for 5 with a double, RBI and two runs, the Rhoads' brothers had three hits each, Jeff was 3 for 6 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs, Steve was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored. T Schlosser, P Schlosser, Smith, and Mitchell each scored two runs. Hubka and Craig Henschel had two hits each for the Oilers. Rob Becker improved to 3-0 with the complete game win with three earned runs on nine hits, a walk, hit batter and three strike outs. B Henschel took the loss with seven runs, six earned, with eight hits, two walks and seven strike outs in four innings. Reliever Knuppenburg gave up seven runs, six earned, on seven hits and three walks in three innings. Billie Owens had a 1-2-3 inning and Troy Dibb pitched the ninth inning giving up two runs on one hit, two walks, a hit batter and one strike out.
