On the strength of five home runs, including a seventh inning grand
slam by Jeff Rhoads which ended the game, the Five Os improved to 4-1 in
the TCNL with a 16-3 win over Hartford in Horicon. Hartford dropped to
1-2 in the TCNL. Kirk Ressler improved to 5-1 with the win going six
innings with three unearned runs on five hits, a walk and a strike out.
Rhoads pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning.
Oconomowoc scored three runs in the bottom of the first on a leadoff
double by James Schlosser, a walk to Tim Schlosser, a single by Rhoads
which loaded the bases, RBI walks by Derek Nelson and Adam Schlosser
and an RBI single by Mike Mitchell. Mitchell homered after a single by A Schlosser in the third inning for a 5-0 lead. Hartford scored an
unearned run in the top of the fourth inning as Jim Kluck reached on an
error, advanced on a walk to Ben Kluck and single by Ryan Fladuid and
scored on a single by Tom Kluck. The Five Os scored four runs in the
fourth on singles by J Schlosser and T Schlosser followed by a three
run home run by Rhoads and a solo shot by Nelson for a 9-1 score.
Hartford scored their final two runs in the sixth inning on a single by Chad
Bruce, who scored on a ground out by Fladuid, and J Kluck reached on an
error and scored on a single by T Kluck. Oconomowoc's Dan Schlosser
lead off the sixth with a home run, Jeff Rhoads was hit by a pitch,
payback for the four home runs, Nelson singled and Mike Eppler singled
both runners home. The game ended in the bottom of the seventh via ten
run rule after lead off walks to Erik Olson and D Schlosser, T
Schlosser reached on a error and Rhoads hit a grand slam just inside the right
field line.
Rhoads was 3 for 4 with two home runs and seven RBIs and four runs
scored. J Schlosser was 3 for 3 with a double and two runs, Mitchell 2
for 3, a home run and three RBIs, Nelson 2 for 3 with two runs, two
RBIs and a home run, going back to back with Rhoads in the fourth inning. T
Schlosser was 1 for 3 with three runs scored and D Schlosser was 1 for 1
with a home run and two runs scored.
Losing pitcher Chris Haag gave up nine earned runs on 11 hits, three
walks and three strike outs in 3 1/3 innings. Chad Bruce gave up seven
runs, six earned, on four hits, two walks, two hit batters and a strike
out.
