Os Stave Off 9th Inning Rally By Juneau

Oconomowoc was able to fend off a 9th inning rally by Juneau on Wednesday night to pick up their 9th win of the season. Newcomer Matt Schref picked up his first win of the season by throwing a complete game. Schref gave up 2 runs in the 1st inning to Juneau before settling down and holding them scoreless for the next seven. The Five Os went into the bottom of the 9th inning with a 6-2 lead when Juneau belted out 3 hits and was able to get the tieing run on first base. A 2 out diving catch by second baseman Shawn Tremaine in the outfield preserved the win. Matt gave up 13 hits, stuck out 8 and walked 3 in the victory. Taking the loss for Juneau was R. Wilkenson.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, Oconomowoc captured the lead in the top of the 6th when Derek Nelson hit a 2 out, 3-run home run. The Five Os then added the much neeed insurance runs in the top of the 8th when Jeff Rhoads and Derek Nelson hit back-to-back home runs. Jeff's blast was a 2-run shot, Derek's was solo and his second home run of the game. Leading Oconomowoc at the plate was Derek Nelson and Josh Fenzl. Derek was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. Fenzl was also 2 for 4. Jeff Rhoads added a home run to the cause and had 2 RBIs. Brian "Prime Time" Salentine also had a hit.
