Going into the top of the 9th inning, Oconomowoc appeared to be poised to earn their second LOL win of the year. They had a 4-2 lead but Menomonee Falls had other plans. The 6 run inning for the Lakers started with an error and didn't get any better. 10 hitters and 6 runs later, Menomonee Falls held a solid 8-4 lead. That is all their Ace and former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Don August needed. August shut down Oconomowoc 1-2-3 in the 9th to drop Oconomowoc to 1-1 in the LOL West and improve their record to 3-0.
Oconomowoc got on the board in the 2nd inning when Sean Smith led off with a home run to right. Two batters later Steve Rhoads doubled and was then singled in by newcomer Shane Nelson. Oconomowoc added one more in the 3rd with another lead off home run, this time by pitcher Luke Nelson. The Five Os got their 4th and final run in the 4th inning when Mike Mitchell singled in Jeff Rhoads. Leading hitters for Oconomowoc were Sean Smith who was 2 for 3 with a home rum and Jeff Rhoads who was 2 for 4.
On the mound Luke Nelson threw 7 innings for Oconomowoc, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) striking out 8 and walking 6. Mike Bolson came in to pitch the final 2 innings and gave up 6 runs (5 earned) striking out 5 and walking 1. Don August got the win for Menomonee Falls.
