Matt Schref threw another complete came to improve his record to 4-0 and advance the Five Os to the second round of the SWABA tournament. Oconomowoc drew Kewaskum in the first round. Matt had another solid perfomance allowing only 5 hits, 1 earned run, walking 1 and striking out 7 (including striking out the side in the last inning). Oconomowoc got Matt the lead in the top of the second when Shawn Tremaine led off the inning with a walk and was bunted over to second base with a sacrafice by DH Josh Fenzl. Mike Bolson then drove in Tremaine with a single to left. The real damage was done by Oconomowoc in the third inning when they sent 12 batters to the plate and scored 7 runs. Sean Smith started the rally with a single to left. Six hits later and a Kewaskum error led to the runs for Oconomowoc.
The leading hitter for Oconomowoc was Mike Bolson who went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Luke Nelson, Jeff Rhoads, Sean Smith and Steve Rhoads all had 2 hits each in the winning effort. Luke Nelson and Shawn Tremaine had 2 RBIs each. The win puts Oconomowoc at 15-2 overall. The second round of SWABA game date or opponent is not known yet. The Five Os have a busy 4th of July weekend with two LOL home games. They play West Bend on Sunday and Merton on Tuesday. Both games are at Roosevelt at 1:00 pm.
