The Five Os improved to 2-1 in the Tri County Night League with a win over Hustisford on Friday night. Solid defense and great pitching helped notch the win. Kirk Ressler threw the first complete game of the season for Oconomowoc, and it was a gem. In 9 innings of work, Kirk struck out 8 and held the Astros to just 1 run and 2 hits (a drag bunt single and swinging bunt). At the plate, Oconomowoc was once again led by hot hitting Derek Nelson who went 4 for 5 with a home run, double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. In the first four games of the season for Oconomowoc, Derek has an unreal batting average of .750. Luke Nelson added 2 hits to the winning cause while Mike Mitchell also contributed a home run. Defensively, Josh Fenzl had a solid game behind the plate throwing out both runners that tried to steal against him.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 2-1 in the Tri County Night League and 3-1 overall. Their next matchup will be on Sunday against Menomonee Falls in LOL play. Gametime is 1:00 pm at Roosevelt Field in Oconomowoc. The Five Os will be holding a short memorial service for Tom Rhoads before the game.
