Oconomowoc was able to complete a 2 win weekend at Lannon with an 11-5 win over the Stonemen. The game was much closer than the score indicates. Going into the top of the 8th inning, Lannon pitcher Scott Duffek was shutting down Oconomowoc hitters. Up to that point he had allowed only one hit. However, in the 8th Oconomowoc finally got to Duffek. They sent 12 batters to the plate, belted out 5 hits and drew 2 walks. Lannon also gave Oconomowoc some help by committing 2 errors. The rally began when lead off hitter Clint Smothers lined a single into left center. Tim Schlosser followed up with a single of his own and then Luke Nelson reached on an error. Two big doubles later in the inning by Derek Nelson and Steve Rhoads pushed the bulk of the runs across for Oconomowoc. The Five Os then added 2 more insurance runs in the 9th inning when Jeff Rhoads and Mike Bolson led off the inning and both reached via errors and ended up coming around to score.
At the plate Oconomowoc did not have any hitters with more than one hit. Perhaps the biggest hit of the game for Oconomowoc was a bases loaded double off the top of the fence by Steve Rhoads in the 8th inning. Derek Nelson also had an RBI double earlier in the inning. An 0 for 5 game for Jeff Rhoads broke his 45 game hitting streak.
On the mound, Mike Bolson earned his second win of the year. Bolson went the distance and gave up only 2 earned runs. He struck out 6, walked 3 and hit one batter. Taking the loss for Lannon was Scott Duffek.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the LOL Western Division. They are currently tied with Menomonee Falls for first place. Their next game is a Tri County matchup at Pardeeville on Friday night. They then continue LOL play with a home game against North Lake on Sunday. Game times are 8:00 pm on Friday and 1:00 pm on Sunday.
