On Sunday the Five Os took on a much improved North Lake Lakers. Oconomowoc went up against North Lake's ace, Travis Thompson, fresh off a 17 strike out game the week before. While Travis did still stike out 12 Os, Oconomowoc managed to get 6 runs off of him and played solid defense to earn the win. Mike Bolson threw another good game on the fill for Oconomowoc. He went 7 1/3 innings before handing the ball over the Rob Becker to pick up his first save of the year. Bolson gave up 6 hits and stuck out 6 in the win. In the 8th inning when the Lakers were rallying with 3 singles, Becker came in to get the much needed ground ball to turn the 1-6-3 double play.
At the plate Oconomowoc was held to just 8 hits, 6 of them coming from Sean Smith and Jeff Rhoads, each with 3 hits a piece. Jeff Rhoads had 3 RBIs while Smith notched up 2 doubles.
The win puts Oconomowoc at 2-0 in the Land O Lakes Western Division, sharing the lead with Pewaukee and Hartland.
Oconomowoc will try again to open the Tri County season with games this week on Wednesday against Hustisford and Saturday against Kewaskum. Then the Os are back to LOL action on Sunday at Monches.
